About the Town Center
Renaissance Town Center is a mixed-use, pedestrian-friendly, contemporary village that exemplifies the principles of New Urbanism, creating an inviting and functional multi-purpose village space. It is a sustainable community that is designed to gain density through several phases of development and that has the potential to be a catalyst for the recovery and redevelopment of New Orleans East.
New Urbanism is the successful revival of the traditional town center design, and Renaissance Town Center is the first establishment of this style in New Orleans. The structure of this self-contained community provides for all of life’s necessities by containing a variety of stores and shops, including large department stores, retail fashion stores, restaurants, sidewalk shops, entertainment venues, offices, and a residential component.
Renaissance Town Center features:
- 1.2 million square feet of rentable space on 80 acres of land.
- Significant public space, including the Town Square, which is located at the community’s center.
- A mix of commercial & residential elements, including shops, restaurants, offices, a supermarket, a hotel, a cinema, a medical plaza, and residential units of differing sizes and typologies.
- A well-connected street network linked to the greater thoroughfare system of the neighborhood.
- Narrow, tree-lined streets and easily navigated walkways that encourage and support pedestrian and bicycle activity.
- Street and garage parking. (Parking lots are located at the rear of the buildings to shield them from the general pedestrian environment.)
- Meeting rooms for community gatherings, education activities, and other events.
